A date has yet to be set for the conclave - the secret meeting of cardinals aged under 80 to elect a new pope. Prayer events are scheduled every day at St Peter's Basilica. People have been streaming in to pay their last respects to the late pontiff. His funeral on Saturday will mark the beginning of an ancient tradition of holding nine days of mourning.
