Chan Chun Sing on 'circle of support' for children with special needs
Children with special needs should reach their full potential, feel confident and be equipped with life skills and values so that they can be as independent as possible. That is the goal of the Government's approach, which starts from the early years with timely detection and intervention. Education Minister Chan Chun Sing outlined the "circle of support" in Parliament on Monday (Feb 14) in reply to MPs' questions. He said this has enabled parents to cope with the challenges of raising children with special needs. He urged the community to show care and understanding, and reach out in both "words and deeds" to uplift one another and leave no Singaporean behind.
