Chan Chun Sing on support for teachers' well-being
The quality of education depends on the strength of the teaching force, said Education Minister Chan Chun Sing. The well-being of teachers is critically important to Singapore's mission to teach, inspire and nurture future generations, he said. Speaking in reply to MPs' questions in Parliament on Monday (Sep 12), Mr Chan said building a quality teaching service goes beyond salaries and benefits. He said the Ministry of Education (MOE) values its teachers and pays close attention to their well-being and work-life balance. Mr Chan highlighted the steps taken to help teachers manage their workload. These include streamlining administrative processes and giving schools greater flexibility to pace the implementation of new initiatives. Schools have also implemented more flexible work arrangements for teachers, where feasible. Mr Chan said MOE will continue to work with school leaders and the public to keep the workload manageable for teachers and to support their well-being.
