Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 2: Derrick Goh on tackling online scams

More than S$200 million was lost in the top 10 types of scams in 2020, with online scams growing rapidly. With that in mind, MP Derrick Goh said in Parliament on Monday (Mar 1) it was reasonable for the Government to “spend proportionately” to fight such crimes. He asked if it plans to spend more to acquire more digitally equipped investigators and capabilities, and involve more digital economy players. He also asked if Singapore will work with other jurisdictions on a comprehensive plan to recover funds that are derived from scams and moved out of Singapore. *Loss of audio inherent from source
