Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 2: Tan Wu Meng on navigating means test dilemma

01:55 Min
In Parliament on Monday (Mar 1), MP Tan Wu Meng brought up the issue of Singaporeans who stay with family members to receive caregiving support, but then fall on the wrong side of the means test assessment. He recounted the case of a male resident who had moved in with a family member, who is still working, for caregiving support. But because of this, he does not qualify for legal aid, with the means test looking at household income. Mr Tan said he hoped that the Government could continue to find ways to support families in such challenging, unfortunate situations.
