It is time to come down harder on employers who underpay their foreign workers or pass holders, said Leader of the Opposition Pritam Singh in Parliament on Tuesday (Mar 2). He said such actions also sabotage Singaporean workers by undercutting their wage competitiveness. Mr Singh suggested increasing penalties as a deterrent, or requiring errant bosses - on top of criminal penalties - to pay foreign workers six months’ wages as compensation.
