Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 3: Yip Hon Weng on graduate unemployment, senior workers
An extended period of unemployment among graduates would hamper their job prospects even after the economy improves, said MP Yip Hon Weng in Parliament on Tuesday (Mar 2). Graduates saddled with student loans or from low-income families would suffer a worse hit and feel the pressure to take on any job that comes. He asked for an update on the progress of the SGUnited Traineeships Programme and how it has benefited graduates. He also asked for an update on the Government's efforts in dispelling ageism in the workplace.
