Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 4: Mariam Jaafar on empowering Singaporeans for the green economy

02:24 Min
MP Mariam Jaafar asked in Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 3) if a strategic review of the jobs and skills that will be in demand in the green economy had been or would be done. She also asked for a review of the jobs, particularly local jobs, that would be impacted directly or indirectly by the transition to the green economy. She suggested putting a plan against that and getting ahead of the curve. The point to start at is schools, she said, to propagate knowledge on sustainable development so that "we will have an informed and empowered citizenry well before the green economy is truly upon us".
