Committee of Supply 2021 debate, Day 5: Lim Biow Chuan on HDB rental flats for singles and families

The Housing and Development Board (HDB) should allow singles to rent one-room flats on their own. This should be done under exceptional circumstances, on a case-by-case basis. HDB should also consider having slightly bigger rental flats for families which are larger. MP Lim Biow Chuan, who renewed this call in Parliament on Thursday (Mar 4), urged HDB to show compassion in cases where people cannot get along with their flatmates and end up in distress, or for families who find it a squeeze in small rental units.
