Committee of Supply 2022 debate, Day 1: Foo Mee Har on accountability and governance amid COVID-19 crisis
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Singapore cannot ignore the importance of accountability and governance of public expenditure in order to ensure that resources are effectively allocated and properly accounted for, said MP Foo Mee Har. Speaking in Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 2), she pointed out that countries with COVID-19 support programmes, such as the UK and US, had come under scrutiny for fraud, errors and improper payments. She wanted to know what controls and governance procedures have been put in place by Government agencies in Singapore. She also urged the Government to subject key COVID-19 expenditures to audit checks.
