Committee of Supply 2022 debate, Day 1: Foo Mee Har on quashing xenophobia and fostering social cohesion
Xenophonic acts threaten Singapore's multicultural way of life and there is a fear among foreigners of growing nativism here, said MP Foo Mee Har in Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 2). She noted that there are also concerns over increased suspicions between people of different social backgrounds as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. She wanted to know if the Government has plans to integrate foreigners and to quash xenophobic sentiments which might hurt Singapore's reputation as an open, diverse and inclusive society.
