Committee of Supply 2022 debate, Day 1: Louis Ng on childcare sick leave and paternity leave

The Government should make childcare sick leave available to all working parents and not just to those in the public and civil service. MP Louis Ng made this call in Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 2). He asked if the Government would consider providing childcare sick leave to all working parents on a per-child basis. Mr Ng also said more should be done to make paternity leave an option for low-income earners. He asked if the Government could conduct a study on the barriers to taking paternity leave for low-income workers and look into policies to increase its usage, as well as the ways to get employers to support paternity leave.
