Business costs for taxi and private-hire car drivers have risen considerably over the past two years, a major factor being fuel prices that have been revised "at least 18 times in the past 14 months", said MP Yeo Wan Ling in Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 2). With concern that this will be exacerbated by the impending rise in the Goods and Services Tax, she asked for targeted support for drivers and a reassessment of the current expense ratio in calculating their taxable incomes.
