Job vacancies have hit a record high of more than 98,000, with the labour crunch further exacerbated by a mismatch in skills, said MP Foo Mee Har. Speaking in Parliament on Thursday (Mar 3), she noted that investing in worker training and development has never been more urgent. Ms Foo asked what outcomes have been achieved from the formation of company training committees (CTCs) and what key lessons have been learned so that funding support can be more effective. She also highlighted an innovative idea to beat the shortage of manpower - the Chief Technology Officer-as-a-Service scheme to help SMEs tap tech expertise. Ms Foo called for this to be replicated for other key functions.
