Committee of Supply 2022 debate, Day 2: Janet Ang on Singapore as key node in global trading network

07:28 Min

Singapore is charting a way forward with new engines of growth in the digital and green economies but it must also grapple with challenges such as a weakening of the multilateral trading system, increasing protectionism by many countries amid COVID-19 and supply chain disruptions, said NMP Janet Ang in Parliament on Thursday (Mar 3). She asked how the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Economic Development Board intend to accelerate and expand Singapore’s position as a key node in the global trading network. Ms Ang also spoke on the importance of getting “queen bee” companies to invest in upskilling and training Singaporeans, and on helping SMEs build networks to internationalise.
