Committee of Supply 2022 debate, Day 2: Jessica Tan on helping Singapore companies grow abroad

02:53 Min

Helping companies grow outside Singapore has been the country’s strategy for many decades but firms now face new challenges and need new capabilities to do so, said MP Jessica Tan in Parliament on Thursday (Mar 3). She asked what support the Government is providing and how it will foster stronger partnerships between multinationals and SMEs to help local enterprises seize new opportunities in the global economy. Ms Tan also asked about a new Singapore Global Enterprises initiative, giving bespoke assistance to larger local companies to scale up and invest in overseas markets. She wanted to know how it differed from the Local Enterprises Funding Platform which was announced in last year’s Budget with a similar stated goal.
