Provide better support to the Commercial Affairs Department, Singapore's premier white-collar crime buster, as cases become more complex. Officers must be well-resourced, supported and adequately compensated to attract the best and the brightest to take on the heavy task of keeping Singapore safe. At the same time, review the effect of the death penalty to deter drug trafficking, murder and other serious crimes. Singaporeans need to be convinced that the death penalty is essential for the Home Team to do its job. MP Murali Pillai highlighted these priorities in Parliament on Thursday (Mar 3). He wanted to know what efforts have been made by the Government to make the case for the continued use of the death penalty in Singapore.
