Committee of Supply 2022 debate, Day 3: Dennis Tan on making a ‘just’ green transition
As Singapore transitions to a green economy and society, many in the petrochemicals industry may be at risk of losing their jobs in the near to medium term, said MP Dennis Tan in Parliament on Friday (Mar 4). He wanted to know how a "just" transition can be made for workers who wish to make mid-career switches into the green economy. He added that Singapore’s aggregate level of green skills may not be sufficient. Mr Tan asked how career conversion and training programmes can be expanded to reskill existing workers or train new hires for the sustainability sector.
