The movement restrictions are taking a toll on the mental health of migrant workers and pose social risks. Experienced workers might prefer to leave Singapore, worsening the manpower shortage and making Singapore's economy "haemorrhage", cautioned MP Leon Perera. Speaking in Parliament on Friday (Mar 4), he called for the easing of movement restrictions for migrant workers. He also urged the Government to apply the Retention Scheme to all work permit holders. He also offered suggestions to boost migrant worker productivity.
