The food services and retail sectors have been among the hardest-hit amid COVID-19, battling waves of disruptions over the past two years. A new S$70 million Food Services and Retail Business Revitalisation Package aims to extend crucial support for these companies to improve their productivity, pivot and transform, as well as help them beef up manpower by hiring and training locals. This was announced by Minister of State for Trade and Industry Low Yen Ling in Parliament on Friday (Mar 4). She also spoke on plans to transform the tourism sector for a post-COVID world. There will also be a new S$50 million initiative to uplift heartland enterprises as well as three new programmes to improve the capabilities of Trade Associations and Chambers.
