Committee of Supply 2022 debate, Day 3: Sharael Taha on well-being of lower-wage workers, Workfare Income Supplement
Workers have a responsibility to upskill but businesses also have a part to play, said MP Sharael Taha. Speaking in Parliament on Friday (Mar 4), he asked the Government how it intends to encourage and support more small- and medium-sized enterprises to transform their business to improve productivity and the scope for progression for lower-wage workers. He also suggested implementing a yearly Workfare Income Supplement bonus or tiered supplement scheme if a worker annually takes part in upskilling programmes.
