Committee of Supply 2022 debate, Day 4: Sun Xueling on new school for students with multiple disabilities

A second school for students with multiple disabilities will be set up in the west of Singapore. The Ministry of Education will work with the Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore on this, said Minister of State for Education Sun Xueling in Parliament on Monday (Mar 7). She said students with multiple disabilities have complex needs which can affect their learning and mobility. They may also face medical challenges. Ms Sun also gave an update on St Andrew’s Mission School, which supports students with autism spectrum disorder. It started operating in January at a temporary site in Bukit Batok. Ms Sun said the school’s permanent site will be next to Nan Hua High School in Clementi. It will offer 500 primary and 350 post-primary level places. There are now 22 special education schools across Singapore serving students with moderate to severe special education needs.
