Committee of Supply 2022 debate, Day 5: Cheryl Chan on ensuring affordability of public housing
Singapore must continually find ways to keep public housing affordable, MP Cheryl Chan emphasised in Parliament on Tuesday (Mar 8). Noting the continued high property prices amid construction manpower shortages during COVID-19, she asked how the Government plans to improve resilience in the sector against future disruptions. She also wanted to know if the Prime Location Public Housing (PLH) scheme might be extended beyond the core central regions to popular mature housing estates. Ms Chan also asked how Singapore is preparing for the “sociological change” of more people looking for larger residential spaces and more of the younger generation seeking to live on their own.
