Healthcare affordability is a real concern as Singapore’s population ages rapidly, said MP Lim Wee Kiak in Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 9). He questioned if the various medical subsidy schemes are enough and what the Government is doing to slow the rise of healthcare costs. He wanted to know how the Government will use the increase in revenue collected through the GST hike to improve healthcare delivery. Dr Lim also asked if incentives might be provided to encourage people to embrace preventive health, instead of only seeking help when problems arise.
