Committee of Supply 2022 debate, Day 7: Nadia Ahmad Samdin on supporting families of offenders and encouraging young talent
The incarceration of offenders affects not just the offenders but also their families, said MP Nadia Ahmad Samdin in Parliament on Thursday (Mar 10). Noting that help is usually given to the offenders' families at the beginning and end of their sentences, she suggested that assistance be given during the entire sentence period. She also called for reintegration support for offenders and their families to be stepped up, and wanted to know how families have been helped by the Family and Inmates Through-care Assistance Haven (FITRAH) programme. Turning to support from MENDAKI for students, she wanted to know how it can work with companies and industries for opportunities in new growth areas.
