Committee of Supply 2022 debate, Day 7: Shahira Abdullah on Wakaf, asatizah leadership development
Wakaf is a voluntary charitable endowment made by Muslims in the form of cash or property, and an important source of funds to support the Muslim community and its religious needs. NMP Shahira Abdullah asked how the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) is educating the public on Wakaf and how its assets are used. She said greater awareness could encourage greater contribution. In Parliament on Thursday (Mar 10), Dr Shahira also wanted to know how Malay-Muslim organisations can better synergise support schemes with national initiatives. She also sought updates on leadership development efforts for asatizah.
