Committee of Supply 2023 debate, Day 2: Raj Joshua Thomas on Non-Resident Ambassadors

00:57 Min

Non-Resident Ambassadors (NRAs) are a unique part of Singapore's diplomacy, said NMP Raj Joshua Thomas. Speaking in Parliament on Monday (Feb 27), he pointed out that the scheme widens the reach of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and helps to build personal diplomatic relations with a larger number of countries. He wanted to know how MFA tracks the performance of NRAs, as well as the effectiveness of the representation and the frequency of such assessments. He also wanted to know how much resources are made available to them to carry out their duties.
