Committee of Supply 2023 debate, Day 2: Raj Joshua Thomas on security officers' work hours
The working hours of security officers in both private and Government contracts are unreasonable and unsustainable, said NMP Raj Joshua Thomas. Speaking in Parliament on Monday (Feb 27), he wanted to know if the Government will take the lead in regularising the working hours for security officers in Government security contracts. He asked if this could include giving more weightage at the evaluation stage of outcome-based security contracts to tender bids that propose shorter working hours for security officers. He also said security officers should not be left behind in discussions on work-life balance.
