Committee of Supply 2023 debate, Day 3: He Ting Ru on access to education

03:16 Min

Schools and universities must be mindful to make themselves accessible to students from a wide variety of backgrounds in order to thrive, said MP He Ting Ru. Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday (Feb 28), she asked if detailed information can be published annually on the progress made towards admitting students from more diverse backgrounds to give a sense of whether Singapore's efforts are paying off. She said this would also make it easier for Singaporeans to understand moves such as relocating popular schools out of central Singapore in an effort to be more inclusive. She said the alumni could also be more heavily involved in advising current or even prospective students to popular schools.
