Committee of Supply 2023 debate, Day 3: Lim Biow Chuan on reducing curriculum content
In Parliament on Tuesday (Feb 28), MP Lim Biow Chuan called for the Ministry of Education (MOE) to reduce curriculum content in schools and allow students to learn using more technology. He said as most information is readily available on the Internet, there is no need to acquire so much knowledge. Instead, a student needs to learn how to navigate the Internet to obtain reliable and accurate information. He stressed that students should be allowed to enjoy learning not just to pass exams, and should be given more time to develop their own interests during their formative years in school.
