Committee of Supply 2023 debate, Day 3: Mariam Jaafar on Polytechnic Foundation Programme
Since its inception, the Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP) for Normal (Academic) students who have done well has been a success, with the vast majority of students progressing to diploma courses. They are also better prepared for the different learning styles and discipline that help them to succeed in polytechnics. MP Mariam Jaafar shared this in Parliament on Tuesday (Feb 28). Given that success, and in light of concerns over the diverging employment outcomes of ITE, polytechnic and university graduates, she asked if the Education Minister could consider expanding the PFP scheme to allow more students to benefit.
