Committee of Supply 2023 debate, Day 3: Shawn Huang on nurturing resilient students and supporting students with higher needs

How can we build partnerships with parents, industry and the wider community to nurture resilient and holistic students who can thrive in a complex future? MP Shawn Huang asked this question in Parliament on Tuesday (Feb 28). He also called for more support to be given to students with higher needs, including those from disadvantaged backgrounds to ensure that they have an equal opportunity to succeed. He said that providing support for students with higher needs is not only a matter of inclusive values of the education system but also an economic imperative, as studies have shown that students who receive additional support are more likely to complete their education, go on to further studies or employment and make a positive contribution to society.
