Committee of Supply 2023 debate, Day 3: Tin Pei Ling on digital inclusion and information literacy
What progress has been made in ensuring that Singaporeans have access and the know-how to harness the benefits of going digital? What are the wins and opportunities for improvement? MP Tin Pei Ling asked these questions in Parliament on Tuesday (Feb 28). She called for solutions to connect seniors to the wider community, designing them in a way that is easy to use and not daunting. Ms Tin also asked what more the Government is doing to raise awareness of information literacy. She said educating the public on how to discern fake news and falsehoods such that it becomes intuitive is the best way to “inoculate the population against (this) poison”.
