While Singapore is a foodies' haven, lapses in food safety can have a severe impact on public health, said MP Nadia Ahmad Samdin in Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 1). She asked how the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) can tap on the latest innovations and technologies to enhance food safety, and whether SFA is considering any enhancements to the food hygiene and safety framework. This could include the points demerit system to encourage food business owners to maintain a hygienic and clean environment. And while home-based businesses are not governed by the regulations, she wanted to know how SFA can better support food hygiene from such home-based businesses and food delivered via online platforms.
