Committee of Supply 2023 debate, Day 4: Sylvia Lim on tackling dengue

02:35 Min

Dengue fever is expected to remain a serious health risk this year but some of us may have a “complacent mindset” and overlook the fact that the virus is debilitating and can be fatal, said MP Sylvia Lim. Speaking in Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 1), she said a multipronged approach is urgently needed to tackle the environmental factors of mosquito breeding, alongside medical solutions or precautions to better protect people living in Singapore. She wanted to know what is the state of other strategies, apart from source eradication. She also urged the Government to consider a subsidy for dengue tests if these are deemed necessary by doctors.
