Committee of Supply 2023 debate, Day 5: Ang Wei Neng on electric vehicle adoption rates
Nearly 12 per cent of all new vehicles registered in 2022 were electric vehicles (EVs), which is “an encouraging sign”, said MP Ang Wei Neng in Parliament on Thursday (Mar 2). However, he asked how many were passenger cars and how many were commercial vehicles and motorcycles, pointing out that users face different sets of challenges. Mr Ang also wanted to know about plans to encourage higher adoption and whether there is any order of priority. He also asked about the EV adoption rate among Government vehicles and in the public bus fleet.
