To empower seniors to age in place, Singapore must spur the creation of affordable assisted living services, said MP Henry Kwek in Parliament on Friday (Mar 3). He asked if there is a concrete roadmap in place to achieve this. Mr Kwek said the Ministry of Health will have to work with various ministries and agencies to map out people’s needs, determine the optimum network of assisted living services in both public and private estates, fund infrastructure-building, co-fund service provision, help seniors free up their assets to pay their share, and work with the private and people sectors to come up with a spectrum of services that will meet different needs and budgets.
