Committee of Supply 2023 debate, Day 6: Joan Pereira on shortage of infant care teachers
In Parliament on Friday (Mar 3), MP Joan Pereira highlighted feedback from residents that a particular infant care centre, which had vacancies, could not accept children due to a lack of infant care teachers. She wanted to know how the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) plans to train more infant care specialists to meet demand. She also wanted to know what challenges and obstacles MSF faces in recruiting and retaining staff in the sector and what more can be done to improve the working conditions of teachers and reduce the attrition rate.
