Committee of Supply 2023 debate, Day 6: Louis Ng on rest time and support staff for nurses

01:27 Min

In Parliament on Friday (Mar 3), MP Louis Ng called for nurses to get a lighter workload, protected breaks during their shifts and a guaranteed minimum amount of rest between shifts. He pointed out that many nurses are tired or burnt out, which could affect patient safety. Mr Ng also wanted to know if the Ministry of Health will look into formalising the role of Care Ambassadors who were deployed during the COVID-19 pandemic, along with more ancillary healthcare staff, to support nurses so they can focus on their core duties.
