Changing behaviours and lifestyle choices, which is critical for preventive health and better health outcomes, is much harder than popping a pill. This is why having “strong nodes and connectors” in the community to support and conjure up healthier lifestyles is essential. Making the point in Parliament on Friday (Mar 3), MP Ng Ling Ling asked about the planning parameters for the expansion of Active Ageing Centres, noting that there are none in areas of her constituency comprising larger HDB homes and private landed homes. Ms Ng also asked how the Ministry of Health can do more to deter abuse against healthcare workers and provide more counselling support to families whose loved ones are going through complex illnesses in hospital.
