Committee of Supply 2024 debate, Day 1: Rachel Ong on childcare leave for parents of persons with disabilities

01:01 Min

Would the Government consider extending childcare leave for parents of children with severe disabilities past the age of 12? What alternatives are available for these parents in terms of childcare leave? MP Rachel Ong raised these questions in Parliament on Wednesday (Feb 28). She noted that the level of care required for children with severe disabilities does not diminish and may even intensify as their condition progresses, and how this has resulted in many caregivers appealing to their employers to use their personal medical leave instead.
