There is clearly very strong sentiment on the ground about the Israel-Hamas conflict, said NMP Usha Chandradas in Parliament on Thursday (Feb 29). She asked the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) if it could provide clear clarification on how Singaporeans can express their views, but in a way that is lawful and that will continue to keep Singapore’s society united and harmonious. Turning to the Maintenance of Racial Harmony Act, she asked if MHA can provide updates on the status of this proposed law and how it will seek to balance the maintenance of social order with the need for freedom of expression in society.
