Committee of Supply 2024 debate, Day 3: Mark Lee on GenAI Sandbox
In Parliament on Friday (Mar 1), NMP Mark Lee welcomed the launch of a new GenAI Sandbox to help SMEs tap generative AI to improve their operations, products and services. He suggested a “tiered support” approach to encourage businesses to adopt increasingly advanced technologies. For example, a lower tier of 20 per cent for back-office and operational digitisation to a top tier of 60 per cent for using AI technology. Grants could be offered, he said, to support further customisation requirements. As AI adoption grows, he wanted to know if Singapore plans to introduce governance and ethical frameworks to ensure AI's responsible and effective use.
