Committee of Supply 2024 debate, Day 3: Sharael Taha on investing in NAIS 2.0, supporting SMEs to leverage AI and bettering lives through digitalisation
As Singapore embarks on a digital transformation under the National AI Strategy (NAIS) 2.0, how can the Government provide equal and equitable opportunities such that the opportunities brought about by artificial intelligence (AI) do not only benefit the few at the top? How can the Government build the infrastructure necessary for Singapore to be a powerhouse in AI development? How can the Government better lives through digitalisation? How can the Government support small- and medium-sized enterprises across industries to leverage AI to improve their value proposition, productivity and processes? MP Sharael Taha raised these questions in Parliament on Friday (Mar 1). He also asked the Ministry of Communications and Information (MCI) to provide an update on the Industry Transformation Maps and Jobs Transformation Maps across the industries. With the anticipation that more than 15,000 workers will be required in the AI field, Mr Sharael wanted to know how MCI will work together with the Ministry of Manpower to deliver the number of practitioners required.
