Committee of Supply 2024 debate, Day 4: Louis Ng on a greener and more sustainable Singapore
In Parliament on Monday (Mar 4), Speaker Seah Kian Peng dealt with the expenditure estimates for the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE). MP Louis Ng then rose to thank the ministry for “the phenomenal job” it had done in the past year on Singapore’s climate policies. He cited its “tremendous leadership” on the global stage at the UN climate summit COP28, as well as steps taken at home to transition to a low-carbon future, become a zero-waste nation, strengthen climate resilience and the resilience of food and water supplies, and take care of lower-income workers by extending progressive wages to the waste collection and materials recovery sectors.
