The SkillsFuture Level-Up Programme with targeted scope is confined to selected training programmes which are industry-oriented with better employability outcomes. Given that there are more than 29,000 courses on the SkillsFuture website, how will the Ministry of Education decide on which training programmes would be eligible for the top-up funding? How will SkillsFuture Singapore work with the industry to identify courses which are industry-oriented with better employability outcomes? MP Sharael Taha raised these questions in Parliament on Monday (Mar 4). He also wanted to know how the Government will guard against over-inflated training fees to prevent excessive claims by training vendors. Instead of tying them to better employment outcomes, he asked if some of them can be tied to the productivity improvements they bring to the company.
