Committee of Supply 2024 debate, Day 6: Syed Harun Alhabsyi on success of M3 and role of MUIS

04:11 Min

M3 was formed about five years ago as a collaborative effort among MUIS, MENDAKI and MESRA. How successful has it been so far, asked NMP Syed Harun Alhabsyi in Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 6). He said it should monitor indicators such as home ownership, health, access to education, decrease in drug use and recidivism in the Malay-Muslim community as benchmarks. Dr Harun also asked if MUIS - the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore - can continue to fully support the community’s needs in the face of complex contemporary challenges. He asked for more support for local madrasah education to produce community leaders who can offer solutions in an appropriate and balanced manner.
