Committee of Supply 2025 debate, Day 2: Sitoh Yih Pin on ASEAN and Myanmar
The members of ASEAN comprise Singapore's closest and most important neighbour states. ASEAN is important because the countries share many common interests and as a regional bloc, it is able to navigate the international geopolitical arena as a stronger collective force, said MP Sitoh Yih Pin in parliament on Monday (Mar 3). “In this context, we have an obligation, as ASEAN member states, to support and look out for one another,” he added. Noting the lack of progress in the implementation of the Five-Point Consensus in Myanmar, he asked how Singapore can facilitate the progress on the situation in Myanmar.
