Committee of Supply 2025 debate, Day 3: Keith Chua on IPOS' support for SMEs and Singapore as an arbitration hub

01:40 Min

Many small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) may not be aware of the opportunity to unlock the value of their intangible assets and intellectual property rights. Successful businesses should ensure that they protect their brand value and this may also open up avenues for access to finance. How can the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) support SMEs in this area? NMP Keith Chua raised this issue in parliament on Tuesday (Mar 4). Turning to the topic of Singapore as an arbitration hub, Mr Chua noted that Singapore has established itself as one of the leading places for international arbitration. He wanted to know what steps is the government taking, or what steps can be taken, to deepen the attraction of Singapore as an arbitration hub.
