Committee of Supply 2025 debate, Day 3: Nadia Ahmad Samdin on tackling online harms

There has been a rise in the seriousness and prevalence of online harms such as cyberbullying and non-consensual sharing of intimate images, said MP Nadia Ahmad Samdin in parliament on Tuesday (Mar 4). She noted that Singapore has developed a framework to address and mitigate these online harms through various legislation and that the Ministry of Law’s plans to establish a dedicated agency, codify statutory thoughts and lift the veil of anonymity will serve to enhance accountability and fortify the government’s efforts. She also asked the Ministry of Law to elaborate on the nature of timely assistance which will be provided to victims of online harms.
